Open source by design

About

'Open Source by Design'

Why?

It is obvious that open source model enables societies to solve problems efficiently, with more certainty, with more freedom. Still, with a few exceptions, the theory of design and especially individual designer involvement in open source communities do not really click in, right? This project is a part of a research into developing methodologies and mindsets necessary for practical open source designing.

Who started this?

My name is Aleksandar Kovac. A diploma in graphic/information design from Zagreb School of Design. Quite a few years in design practice, research and, yes, theory. M.S. in Design from Kyoto Institute of Technology. My Master's thesis was "Collage UI, a digital development environment that supports human creativity". Currently, I am working towards finishing my Ph.D. in science of design. Working topic is: "Methodology and philosophy of design in open source paradigm".
